APSPBI Pre-ABM 2026 Day 2: Focusing on National Curriculum Alignment and Kemendikdasmen Strategic Partnerships
Surabaya, August 29, 2026 – The Association of English Education Study Programs (APSPBI) successfully hosted the second day of the “Road to ABM 2026: PRA-ABM APSPBI 2026” series today. Carrying the theme “Discuss & Collaborate,” today’s agenda focused on translating member aspirations into strategic options and formulating concrete steps to support the direction of national education.
Keynote Presentations and Strategic Discussions
The second day featured in-depth presentations from key speakers who provided the working framework for the APSPBI Working Groups (Pokja):
- Samsul Khabib, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Opening & Member Voice Review): Opened the session by reviewing the poll results and member priorities from Day 1. This presentation aimed to ensure that the “Member Voice” serves as a common working frame throughout the second day’s discussion process.
- Yanuar Dwi Prastyo, Ph.D. (Curriculum & National Education Direction): Thoroughly examined the curriculum agenda and the context of future national education policy directions and programs. This presentation provided essential insights and a common working frame for English education study programs to align their future steps.
- Dr. Ummi Khaerati Syams, M.Pd. (APSPBI-Kemendikdasmen Strategic Collaboration): Outlined the strategic collaboration framework involving the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), Regional APSPBI, Education Agencies, and PGRI. She also sharpened the focus on APSPBI’s Four Strategic Pillars and clarified the mandates for each assigned Working Group.
Collaboration Through Working Groups (Pokja)
Following the plenary session, participants were divided into four parallel Breakout Working Groups (Pokja). Guided by the Member Voice and national policy directions, these four Pokja operated to draft working papers on the four strategic pillar areas:
- National English Textbook Initiative
- Primary English Teacher Development
- PPG Strategic Partnership
- KKG/MGMP Empowerment
Today’s activities concluded with the establishment of the “Working Week & Next Steps,” which included assigning Persons-in-Charge (PICs), distributing follow-up tasks, setting deadlines, and preparing draft documents to be brought to Day 3 (Review & Recommend) scheduled for September 5, 2026.
